Europe by train. The Gare de Lausanne is the main station of the Vaud area and exists since 1856 with the opening of a local line between Yverdon-les-bains and Bussigny.
Apart from the main towns in the area, the station's nine tracks, transformed in the 90s by the architect Danilo Mondala, serve France, Italy, Spain and enable Lausanne to be open to Europe beyond its borders.
